Knox City FC’s annual All Nations Cup continued on Saturday with a number of entertaining matchups with Chile, Somalia, Eritrea, Greece, Seychelles, South Sudan, Serbia, Iraq, Nigeria and England competing in their second game for the tournament.
A highly skilled matchup between Chile and Somalia kicked off the day’s proceedings, with a drawn result of 1-1 fittingly reflecting the even nature of the contest. Somalia took complete control early and a 21st minute goal from Fasile Aden rewarded this dominance. However, a quick momentum shift before half time saw Chile level the scores with Kris Kioussis netting the ball in the 34th minute. The scores remained until the final whistle.
Final Score: Chile 1-1 Somalia

A fiery contest between Eritrea and Greece followed, resulting in another 1-1 draw. After a big defeat last weekend the Eritreans immediately redeemed themselves with a ninth minute goal scored by Semir Suliman and first half that saw them almost untouchable by the young Greek side. Eritrea continued its dominance into the second half, but a determined Greek outfit showed great tenacity in clinching a last minute goal with Dan Maiorana the hero after slotting the 70th minute equaliser.
Final Score: Eritrea 1-1 Greece

The third match saw an evenly contested affair with South Sudan edging out the Seychelles with a 4-3 win. The back-and-forth game saw Seychelles take early control as Marcus Collier scored at the 10th minute mark, with the score remaining at 1-0 at the break. South Sudan, however, came out firing in the second and netted the ball five minutes in to level the score line. A frenzy of goals followed, with five goals scored between both sides, but the South Sudanese had the final laugh to take home their second and consecutive win.
Final Score: Seychelles 3-4 South Sudan

Serbia announced itself as Cup favourites as they continued their dominance into week two with another big win, this time defeating Iraq 4-1. With three goals scored within the first 27 minutes the Serbian’s pace, skills and finesse could not be matched by the Iraqis. Iraq’s hunger and determination was rewarded in the 59th minute, but Serbia proved to be just too good.
Final Score: Serbia 4-1 Iraq

An even and steady first half was reflected by a score line of no goals apiece going but the English soon kicked into gear with an electric final 35 minutes that saw goals scored by Josh Millar (42) and Ross Clark (64).
